Aurora IVY1 datacenter - Aqua Ray

Built in 2012 and completely renovated in 2020, this local data center is located in the town of Ivry-sur-Seine on the outskirts of Paris. It has been designed according to the most ambitious specifications in terms of reliability. In January 2021, Aurora obtained the highest level of certification from the Uptime Institute and became the first Tier IV data center in Greater Paris.

All its electrical, air-conditioning and network arrivals equipment is installed in minimum 2N. When N equipment is required for the site to function properly, we deploy at least twice as much (2N), in this way and thanks to the care taken in the routing of the various networks inside and outside the building, the data centre is fullly fault tolerant. Any equipment could be destroyed, any cable path could be cut, any part could disappear completely without affecting the normal service of the data center"

  • Intermediate back-up provided by Eaton 93PM (200 kW) inverters and lithium-ion batteries.
  • Relief provided by SDMO 250 kW generators with individual tanks.

  • Stulz equipment in 2N training (main model: ASD 772 AS);
  • Direct expansion system using refrigerant gas type R410A;
  • Refrigerated air circulation in false floors and ducted return in hot aisles;
  • A temperature of 20° is thus maintained in cold corridors.
Security and access control

Security and access control

  • Each access by name is time-stamped;
  • Every move is traceable in the information system in accordance with ISO27001;
  • Access control by means of individual digicodes, magnetic badges and verification of identity documents;
  • CCTV and intrusion sensors.
Fire safety

Fire safety

  • Firewalls 1 hour;
  • Detection in IT rooms by means of VESDA-type smoke extraction systems;
  • Complementary detection in ambience and technical floor in double criteria by smoke and flame detectors;
  • Automatic shutdown in critical rooms using internal non-chemical gas;
  • APSAD R7 compliant installation.

PUE and energy savings

On average, the PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) at the data centre level is between 1.4 and 1.6 (EU average 2.53). It can be obtained thanks to the operation of the inverters in "ecological" mode, which deliberately limits their corrugation capacity in order to favour environmental criteria.
