The environmental impact of data centers: Understanding PUE
NewsPUE is one of the key metrics for assessing how efficiently a data center uses its energy. Read more in this article.
The developer will design and develop Web applications or mobile applications that meet the specific needs of a client. He is also in charge of the maintenance of his applications.
For me, it's about answering business problems through code while keeping the maximum simplicity for the user and in the code used.
This broad definition allows to represent both the code developed on the server side and the one developed on the user side (what he sees). Coding is a relatively simple thing, but doing it in such a way that everything remains simple to use requires reflection and an understanding of the problems to be solved. It is therefore essential to exchange with the users.
The job of Web developer is a job that we practice by passion generally, or by love for computers. It is not necessarily a complicated job but it is constantly evolving with new technologies.
He is passionate and eager to learn new things constantly. You can never rest on your laurels. He is a rigorous person.
Adaptability and the ability to enrich his knowledge mainly. During his career, a developer will use several programming languages, he must therefore learn to master new tools, but also to adapt his use to meet the various problems he will be faced with.
Communication also seems to me to be important in order to succeed in exchanging correctly with the development teams but especially with the users.
In my opinion, a developer doesn't need to have any special skills or qualities as it is a job that can be given to anyone. On the other hand you have to be persistent. As a developer, you can spend several hours on a bug caused by a forgotten semicolon for example. You have to love what you do and always try to learn more, because the job is always evolving.
What intrigued me about the development is the fact that you can start from a blank page and create all kinds of applications from scratch following your imagination.
Since I had my first computer in hand, I wanted to use it to create. My first websites were made with Word and then Frontpage. So I quickly wanted to get my hands dirty and it's naturally that I turned to a computer science degree. And it's during my studies that I realized that the part that interested me the most in computer science was the Web development despite the very small size of this module.
What I like in this job of Web developer is precisely the multiplicity of the encountered problems. We rarely deal with the same subject twice, so we must constantly succeed in approaching a new project with new ideas, solving a user problem in a new way.
Personally, I developed a passion for this profession during my studies. I found it fascinating to create websites only with code. You can do a lot of things without necessarily having a lot of resources. Contrary to some jobs, you don't have to study a lot, a lot of documentation exists on the internet. You can even train online for free if passion and creativity motivate you.
Documentation is essential.
Whether it is an initial training or a reconversion, it is a fulfilling job. I can only advise you to practice as much as possible by developing small personal projects on which you can get your hands dirty, by joining Open Source projects in order to help the community and to quickly increase your skills.
Above all, don't hesitate to interact, to ask questions to understand and improve. This is one of the keys in my opinion. There is no stupid question and everyone is legitimate to ask a question or propose a solution.
I would tell him to think it through and go for it. If you do it with the desire to learn, just stay informed and constantly seek to learn new things.
